Pochettino identifies midfielder that will play key role in his squad

Mason Mount has been named a crucial member of his squad by Argentine international and former Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino, who is widely expected to be Chelsea's next manager.

This occurs as questions remain about Mount's future with the club.

The English midfielder is thought to be a target for Pochettino because he sees him as a potential crucial member of his team.

According to a report from the Daily Mail, Mount's work ethic and technical proficiency are greatly admired by the former Tottenham boss.

Mount will be out of contract at Chelsea in June 2024 and there has been little progress in regards to the negotiations on a contract extension.

Amid the uncertainty surrounding his future at Stamford Bridge, Mount has been linked with a summer exit, with Liverpool, Bayern Munich and Arsenal all showing interest and willingness to sign him.

Like Chelsea, Mount has struggled to impress this season, scoring only three goals and creating six assists in all competitions.
