Chelsea have lost three matches in a row since Frank Lampard was brought back to the club on an interim basis.
Tony Cascarino, a former Chelsea striker, claims that Frank Lampard's team selections and tactics since returning to Chelsea are "impossible to defend." Since his second stint at the club, the interim head coach has lost all three games, and Cascarino thinks the situation is worse now than it was when Graham Potter was in charge.
Lampard's Chelsea suffered a 2-1 defeat at home to Brighton on Saturday. The former midfielder rested several players in anticipation of Tuesday's Champions League second leg against Real Madrid, where they trail 2-0.
Before the first leg at the Bernabeu, Chelsea lost 1-0 at Wolves in Lampard's first game back in charge. Cascarino says the worrying sign is that he cannot see the 44-year-old having the tactical nouse to turn things around.
He said on talkSPORT: "I would say they are a worse team than Graham Potter’s team at the moment from what I’ve seen in the three games. So they have even gone backwards from what happened at the end from Graham Potter.
“This isn’t really having a go at Frank, I understand that he has problems at the club and the club is in a right mess. He is a club legend because of his achievements on the football pitch as a player.
