Chelsea loanee Malo Gusto has opened up about his injury recovery ahead of joining up with the Blues at the end of the season.
It was a complicated period with my injury but I’m happy to be back on the pitch,’ Gusto said.
‘The injury was more serious than what the diagnosis suggested. I was able to recover well and that is the most important thing for both clubs.
Lyon and Chelsea managed the thing well in terms of my rehabilitation. It went well, I am happy.
‘There are regular exchanges with the two clubs and I had things to respect on each side.
‘We reached an agreement after a certain time. Lyon came to see me at Chelsea, to see how I was doing and It made me happy and it pushed me.’
Lyon boss Laurent Blanc, however, seemed to hint at a disagreement between his club and Chelsea’s medical staff over Gusto’s injury.
‘When two medical staff take care of a player and both agree, that can do it,’ Blanc said. ‘But if they don’t [and] are not quite in agreement, how do we do it? That’s it. It’s a special case.’
Gusto also appeared to face some criticism from Lyon supporters over heading to England for his recovery and has sent a message to them
