Mauricio Pochettino is the favourite to take charge at Stamford Bridge and Chelsea players would reportedly welcome his arrival at the club.
According to The Telegraph, the Blues and Pochettino have had a number of productive discussions as they look for a new permanent manager. The idea of Pochettino's arrival has been well received in the locker room as well. The idea of the Argentine taking over has the players "excited" and they respect his coaching prowess, ability to inspire them, and expertise.
Chelsea has Pochettino at the top of their list right now, followed by Burnley manager Vincent Kompany and one other applicant. Although the identity of the third candidate on Chelsea's list is unclear, the Blues are rumored to have shown interest in Feyenoord manager Arne Slot and Celtic's Ange Postecoglou. Luis Enrique and Julian Nagelsmann have already withdrawn from the running to succeed Graham Potter as Chelsea's next manager.
Pochettino has been out of work since being sacked by Paris Saint-Germain in July 2022 but could be set to return to club football shortly. The 51-year-old has also been linked with Real Madrid and former club Tottenham but the Blues appear close to winning the race to land the Argentine.
