Tottenham have already ‘made moves’ to open talks with manager described as “one of the best” by Pep Guardiola
The Telegraph claims that Luis Enrique is no longer the front-runner to become Stamford Bridge's manager.
The former Barcelona player spoke with Chelsea a few weeks ago, but the report indicates that there are no plans to do so again because he is no longer considered a front-runner for the position.
With "further talks" set for this week, former Bayern Munich manager Julian Nagelsmann is still a strong contender. The former Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino is also a "main contender" for the open role at Stamford Bridge.
The article goes on to say, however, that Tottenham has already established a commanding lead in the race to land Luis Enrique and has already "made moves" to "open talks" with him. Enrique, who has stated a desire to coach in the Premier League, may be the right candidate for the position at one of the London clubs.
With La Liga powerhouse Barcelona, Enrique has a good track record as a manager, having won nine titles, including the Champions League. Pep Guardiola referred to him as "one of the best managers"
The "most likely destinations" for Enrique, according to the Spanish outlet Sport, were Tottenham and Chelsea.
Who will be Tottenham's next manager has still to be chosen, but the team is reportedly determined to find a qualified candidate who can guide them to success in the Premier League and in Europe. With his great credentials, Enrique might be a serious candidate for the position.
