Arsenal have confirmed an arrest has been made after Chelsea star Mykhailo Mudryk had a laser pen shone in his face during the Emirates Stadium clash on Tuesday
According to the Evening Standard, a supporter who used a green laser pen to target Chelsea player Mykhailo Mudryk during the two sides' Tuesday night London derby has been taken into custody. With just under 20 minutes remaining, the 22-year-old winger, who chose Chelsea over a trade to Arsenal, was introduced. A green laser pen was frequently spotted bouncing off the Ukrainian international's face.
Before a green light appeared on Mudryk's face numerous times, he was booed by the home crowd upon his introduction. When lining up for a free kick, during a frantic run against Ben White, and just prior to an Aaron Ramsdale goal kick, it was evident that a green light was directed at the player.
The full Arsenal statement read: “An arrest has been made following the use of a laser during last night’s match. This behaviour is dangerous and totally unacceptable, and we will fully support the police with their enquiries. We will obviously take the strongest possible action.”
His substitute cameo at Emirates Stadium was his 12th Premier League appearance since joining, with another brief stint on the pitch taking his league minutes up to 505 in total. Chelsea signed Mudryk from directly under the noses of Arsenal, paying Shakhtar the full £88million deal they had demanded for numerous months.
